Please read the next 3 chapters (25,26,27). For your final project you will need to imagine that you are the author of a new book. The book is historical fiction. I would like you to come to class with a list of possible topics for your book. Think about areas of interest, civilizations, or events that you would like to know more about.

Seventh assignment due 9/22

Please read chapters 22,23, and 24. Your assignment is to be a passage master. This means that you need to pick a phrase, a quote, or a small piece from one of the chapters. You should pick this because you think it is important to the book. It could be important because it is a turning point in the book, may show an important part of a character's personality, could be the resolution to a conflict in the book, or in some other way is signifigant to the book. Please explain your reasons for picking this passage.

Please read chapters 19,20, and 21. Prepare for quiz on these chapters.

5th assignment due 9/17

Please read chapters 16,17, and 18. Please come up with your own version of the ending to the book. Please include 2 paragraphs.

Second assignment due 9/10/08

Please read the next 4 chapters (4,5,6,7). I would like you to change the setting for the story. Imagine that you are either in the present or the future. Change 10 parts of the story that are related to setting (time and place). Below is an example:

1) Original = story takes place in 1793
New story = story takes place in 2008

2) Original = story happens in a city
New story = story takes place on a tropical island without an airport
